This Past Weekend...

This past Saturday, the hubby and I headed up to Escondido to get our sugar-fix at a place called Peterson's Donut Corner.  Peterson's is not your ordinary donut shop, this place is more like a walk-up baked goods dealer.  The shop's windows were filled to the brim with a gigantic assortment of baked goods.  Their bear claws were literally the size of softball mits.  So huge it makes sharing fun.

Since this was our first time there, we were a bit overwhelmed by the selection of yummy goodness. Therefore, we ordered a little of everything: half dozen donuts holes, one cinnamon twist, apple roll, chocolate cake donuts, maple glazed donut, and some-cream-filled-yummy cone.  Their donuts were perfection in our mouths.  They were both fresh and fluffy only thing that could possible make these donuts better, would be if they were piping HOT.

After devouring our goodies from Peterson's Donuts Corner., the hubby and I decided to go for a walk around the lake.

 HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

Pumpkin Picking

This weekend, we drove out to a local pumpkin patch and picked pumpkins.  Being this was my first time at a  pumpkin patch, I did not know what to expect.  To my surprise this pumpkin patch was more then just pumpkins and hay.  It was surrounded by a mini carnival.  It had tons of games, rides, and even a petting zoo. We filled our little wheel barrow with our selections...now let the fun pumpkin carving and pumpkin recipes begin.

Thank You!!!

Last weekend, I received the worst news anyone could possiblely imagine.  The paramedics called me and left a message "Your husband has been in a serious bike accident."  My heart literally sunk and tears began rolling from my eyes.  It was one of my worst fears come to life.  Being over 3,000 miles from home, I felt totally helpless.

My husband was traveling down a steep hill and lost control of his bike when he hit a crack in his path.  This caused him to fly over the handlebars and land on the right side of his head and shoulder.  The fall was so great he did not remember much from the accident.  Luckily for him, he managed to only have a fractured cheekbone, and several scrapes/cuts.

I just want to express my GRATITUDE for everyone involved.

- To that wonderful person who called 911 and waited by my husband's side until the paramedics arrived.
-To the wonderful nurses at the hospital that took a moment out of their day to make him as comfortable as possible.
-To the wonderful paramedics/doctors for doing what you do best.
-To the wonderful friends we have that made this experience less difficult....from feeding the cat to bringing    things to the hospital.
-To the Chamitas/Puchungi for being there physically when all you need is a hug or a grab bag of Cheetos.

Bo Beau

This past weekend, my hubby took us to a celebratory dinner at Bo Beau.  This dinner was a welcome home celebration.  After 3 weeks away in Miami, it was time to get back to our roots.  That means doing what we love to do best... EAT!!!

Bo Beau is a charming French influence restaurant located in Ocean Beach.  This chic bistro is a great to come for a nice relaxing meal.  The ambiance is very chic, modern and minimalistic with touches of Southern France.  The cozy tables and dim lights are all nestled along the outdoor patio just screams romance.   It was the perfect setting to my date night.

We ordered the following:

Starters:
-Crispy Brussell Sprouts...that's right I said brussell sprouts.  I would never have thought I would be able to get my hubby enjoy something like this but it was really GOOD!!!  I really enjoyed everything about this dish.  It was prepared to perfection with parmesan cheese, balsamic vinegar, and crispy pancetta.  The flavors combined were really delicious.  At the end, the hubby and I were fighting over the last piece of brussel sprout.

Entrees:
-Burger Royale was quite a piece of art.  It has stripes of cured pork belly, gruyere cheese and a mountain high of pomme frites with green peppercorn aioli dipping sauce.  It was a strange combination, but it was so so so good.  I would say it was one of the best burgers I have even had.
-Boeuf Bourguignon was delicious blend of flavors.  I adored the combination of baby carrots, fingerling potatoeas, mushrooms, slow cooked beef, and crispy pancetta.   It was so rich I could not finish my plate.  it is did not help that my hubby had a mountain high pomme fries enticing me.

After dinner, we ordered their delicious Chocolate Souffle with caramel, basil, and strawberries.  I highly recommend saving room for desserts.  The chocolate souffle was out of this world.  This souffle was made to perfection.  It was the best souffle I have eaten.

Thank you Bo Beau for getting my hubby to eat brussell sprouts and a wonderful evening!!!

Here are some photos from my adventures (sorry most of my adventures are with FOOD and this handsome fella).  ENJOY!!!
