Bo Beau

This past weekend, my hubby took us to a celebratory dinner at Bo Beau.  This dinner was a welcome home celebration.  After 3 weeks away in Miami, it was time to get back to our roots.  That means doing what we love to do best... EAT!!!

Bo Beau is a charming French influence restaurant located in Ocean Beach.  This chic bistro is a great to come for a nice relaxing meal.  The ambiance is very chic, modern and minimalistic with touches of Southern France.  The cozy tables and dim lights are all nestled along the outdoor patio just screams romance.   It was the perfect setting to my date night.

We ordered the following:

Starters:
-Crispy Brussell Sprouts...that's right I said brussell sprouts.  I would never have thought I would be able to get my hubby enjoy something like this but it was really GOOD!!!  I really enjoyed everything about this dish.  It was prepared to perfection with parmesan cheese, balsamic vinegar, and crispy pancetta.  The flavors combined were really delicious.  At the end, the hubby and I were fighting over the last piece of brussel sprout.

Entrees:
-Burger Royale was quite a piece of art.  It has stripes of cured pork belly, gruyere cheese and a mountain high of pomme frites with green peppercorn aioli dipping sauce.  It was a strange combination, but it was so so so good.  I would say it was one of the best burgers I have even had.
-Boeuf Bourguignon was delicious blend of flavors.  I adored the combination of baby carrots, fingerling potatoeas, mushrooms, slow cooked beef, and crispy pancetta.   It was so rich I could not finish my plate.  it is did not help that my hubby had a mountain high pomme fries enticing me.

After dinner, we ordered their delicious Chocolate Souffle with caramel, basil, and strawberries.  I highly recommend saving room for desserts.  The chocolate souffle was out of this world.  This souffle was made to perfection.  It was the best souffle I have eaten.

Thank you Bo Beau for getting my hubby to eat brussell sprouts and a wonderful evening!!!

Back to School...

It's official summer is over.  It is back to school time for the little ones and in my husband's case; the big ones.  When I was little I use to love going back to school.  Not for the education purpose but because it always meant shopping for back to school supplies and new school clothes.

This week my niece started her first day of kindergarten.   As a proud Aunt, I bought her a present to start school in style.  Here is a picture of my happy niece with her new Disney Princesses Hello Kitty backpack.  Nothing but the best for my favorite niece.  Okay!  She is currently my ONLY niece.  Well, this wonderful backpack is filled with activity books and a set of crayons.  She is so smart she is already multiplying at the ripe age of 5.

I hope she fills her new backpack with wonderful memories ;D

Calling all Nerds, Geeks, and Socially Awkward SuperHeros

Calling all Nerds, Geeks, and Socially Awkward Superheros of all ages: Comic-Con is here. Comic-Con is the one weekend that is socially acceptable to be a nerd.  It is the one weekend in the year where N-E-R-D is a four letter word for cool.  Last month I had the pleasure of attending Woot Stock.

You know what that means....A evening of fun, music, and NERDOM to ensue.  That's right!!! Woot Stock 3.0 was here.  We all piled into the Balboa Theater for an evening of adult humor, music, and fun.  Paul, Storm, and Will Wheaton delivered an exceptional 4.5 hour evening of fun.  By the third hour, your cheeks are guarantee to start cramping from all the smiling.

The evening was filled with special guest nerd-f*cking-awesome-superstars.  We had performances from adorable YouTube sensation Molly Lewis.  She sang her famous break up song about Wikipedia.  The best surprise of the evening was when Felicia Day graced us with her presence.  It literally caused a nerd riot when she entered the stage during Amy Berg's (writer from SyFy's Eureka) skit.
If you do not know who Felicia Day is then you have no right calling yourself a respectable nerd.  She is the queen of Nerdom. She reigns number one on any celebrity geek list.  She is the wonderful actress behind The Guild. After Felicia's brief performance, Mike Phirman and Chris Hardwick sang humorous song in Spanish about the <3.   Followed by Rifftrax made everything G-R-A-S-S seem cool.  It was an evening of fun.  If this event comes to a neighbor near you, i highly suggest you attend.

Picture coming soon.

Paris (Part 3)

The City of Lights is an enchanting place to come.  Here are some photos from our adventures in France.  Enjoy!!!

Paris (Part 2)

During our trip to Paris, we visited the world famous Louvre Museum.  What an ordeal that was!  It took us literally half an hour to figure out where to buy a 4-day museum pass.  Hint--It is sold exclusively at smoke shop passed the Apple Store in the Louvre Mall.

Once inside the actually museum we were greeted by one recognizable figure after another.  The museum houses an impressive art collection that would take you weeks to go through the entire collection.  Unfortunately for us, we did not have even 2 days to spare.  So off we went to see as much art as possible before my Art ADD set in.

The Most popular girl in the Museum...Ms. Mona Lisa herself.

Venus De Milo

The Louvre was every bit as overwhelming/confusing as we heard.  We spent practically half a day inside.  Partly due to getting lost in the maze of exhibits.  Thank goodness for the cafe to give us some additional fuel to continue seeing the remainder of the museum.

Yay!!! We survived the Louvre ;)
