30 weeks and counting...

Today officially marks my 30 week of pregnancy!  Whew!!! It is hard to believe that there less then 2 1/2 months left?  Which feels like an eternity until we meet our little one, but at the same time it feels like nothing on the planning side.  We have so much to do and we have done almost nothing.  Time for Panic mode!!!

At 29 weeks...

  • Things are has become more and more difficult especially sleeping.  I make tossing and turn seem like a sport.   It is very difficult for me to find the right spot to get comfortable.  Luckily for me, we purchased a Boppy pillow to ease all aches I would receive from sleeping on my side.
  • The hubby and I have started the great search of all things BABY.  Oh gosh is it a daunting task. Every one seems to have an opinion about every baby product on the mark.  In some ways super helpful and other ways it makes our job as consumers even more difficult.
  • My appetite has pretty much back to my pre-pregnancy self.  I still have cravings for the occasional sweets.  I think my baby is taking after my hubby's side.  He loves his sweets.  Lately,  I have been know to finish a chocolate bar in one sitting.
  • As the weeks past by, it is getting more and more difficult to walk without the trademark duck waddle.
  • Baby boy is definitely making his presence be know.  He has been moving around a lot lately.  I think he might be a future soccer play or Olympian gymnast the way he does back flips.  He mostly spends his time relaxing on my right side.
  •  In addition, to announcing his presence...the presence of heartburn and in digest have decided to join the party.  No fun... at least my other friend swollen feet decided to leave the party early.
  • Baby boy is growing faster and faster; so is my belly.  Lately, I have been finding myself accidentally bumping into things more often with my belly.   Some days I think my belly has a mind on it's own.  It accidentally turn on the stove once.

Fourth of July!!!

Early last month, we had the pleasure of taking advantage of doing a little traveling before the baby comes.  First stop...SEATTLE!!!  Where we spent 5 glorious days visiting with friends and touring the Emerald city one bite at a time.  The weather that week was nothing but blue skys and lots of wonderful sunshine.    That's Seattle for showing a girl a good time.

I can't wait to go back...

22 weeks and counting...

This week my doctor called to inform us, that my official due date has been moved a forward a whole week. WOOHOO!!!  Sorry Boss!!! I might need to miss the tax deadline this year, but I have an appointment to meet my son.

Speaking of the little fella, I have been feeling him more and more each week.  Some days he is doing his best impression of Kung Fu Panda.  Luckily for me, he is still too small to do any damages.   I just can't wait to meet the little tenant that lives inside me.  :)

So far this trimester has been really great.  I feel more and more like myself.  The exhaustion is not there anymore.  All my weird food aversions are virtually gone.  I was even fortunate enough to be able to eat an In-n-Out burger again. The only downside of pregnancy is the discomfort.  As the days pass by I notice more and more difficulties with every day mundane things.

I can't wait to see what the road ahead has in stored for us.

We're having a...BOY!!!

Yesterday afternoon, we went to the doctor's office to have an anatomy scan of the baby.  They measure the progress of it's growth.  As of yesterday I was 19 weeks and 5 days, but based on the baby I am 20 weeks and 3 days.  It is has those fierce Scottish genes like it's cousins.  So I should prepare myself for a potential 10 lb baby at this rate.

In addition to the standard test, we were given the sex of our baby.  It appears mama know best!!!  It's a little BOY!!!  I was so excited watching the ultrasound monitor of the baby dancing and kicking inside of me.  I think we might have the next David Beckham on our hands. The hubby thinks the little one has my nose.  It is too soon to tell.   Regardless, what it's features I imagine a mini version of the hubby.  I can see it now...both of them watching Star Trek together wearing matching geeky tees.

After the announcement, we are expecting a little boy this fall.  I have already received one marriage proposal for our son.  I think based on the sheer volume of little girls my friends are having my son will have a lot to chose from.  Good Luck Ladies my baby is going to be a heart breaker !!!

Thank you everyone for your wonderful wishes and support!!!

Bring Sexy Back...

I recently discovered my handsome hubby has a hidden talent in the baking department.  When all hope for him was gone in the kitchen, he always manages to surprise me.   We inherited his grandmother's Kitchen Aid mixer.  He is officially been named the master baker in our house.  The other night was no exception.  He made us a tray of Chua Spicy Maya Brownies, but this week's treats..MRS. FIELD'S CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!!  Yumm-o!!! Trust me folks these are the best cookies EVER!!!

Here are some photos of his creations.

Mrs. Field's Chocolate Chip Cookies:

Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup C & H dark brown sugar (firmly packed)
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup cold salted butter, cut into cubes
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 cups (12 oz.) semisweet chocolate chips
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 300° F.
  2. In a medium bowl combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix well with a wire whisk.
  3. In a large bowl, with an electric mixer blend the sugars at medium speed.
  4. Add the cold butter and mix to form a grainy paste, scraping down the sides of the bowl. Add eggs and vanilla extract and mix at low to medium speed just until blended. Do not over mix.
  5. Add the flour mix and chocolate chips and blend at a low speed just until mixed. Do not over mix.
  6. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet, two inches apart.
  7. Bake 20-22 minutes until golden. Transfer cookies immediately to a cool surface with a spatula. You can line sheets with parchment and transfer to a cold surface to do it faster.
Makes 30-36 cookies, depending on the size of your scoops.
